Welcome to my Blog

I am mainly interested in searching out rare and unusual wildflowers in the Glacial Lakes Grantsburg State Wildlife Areas (Crex, Fish Lake, Amsterdam Sloughs, and Danbury WA's), and the Governor Knowles State Forest. I will blog about my adventures in and around these areas as we go forward into 2010. Of course, when I start this blog, it is January 3, 2010. There are no flowers to be found. But I am working on a presentation to the Burnett County Garden Club on identifying wildflowers that I will be giving January 14, so wildflowers are fresh on my mind and always in my heart. Feel free to ask me questions about identification, and please enjoy my photos. Peace!

Why wildflowers?

I used to be VERY into birding - still am, but wildlfowers are now my main focus.  They don't fly away when you are trying to take their picture.  There are still species yet to be discovered.  And they are lovely.

My favorite thought on Winter...
